A two-hour solo margam — alarippu through tillana — performed before guru, family, and the divine. Every journey unique. Every one a first.
Deepali Ravi approaches Bharatanatyam as a deeply expressive art form, where movement and abhinaya come together to convey emotion, meaning, and storytelling. Her engagement with the art is rooted in discipline, sensitivity, and a deep reverence for its aesthetic and spiritual essence.
Based in Bangalore, she is the founder of Nadanam Dance Academy, where she guides her students with care and dedication, nurturing in them both technical precision and artistic depth. In recent years, several of her students have successfully completed their Arangetram under her guidance—each journey shaped with patience, attention, and a shared love for the art.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Bharatanatyam from Pune University under Guru Smt. Sucheta Bhide Chapekar, and performed her Arangetram under Guru Smt. Manik Ambike.
Her artistic journey includes performances in India and abroad, teaching engagements, lecture demonstrations, and recognition for her contribution to the arts. Through her journey, Deepali Ravi continues to inspire with grace, integrity, and a deep commitment to preserving the spirit of Bharatanatyam.
Yato hastastato dṛṣṭi
yato dṛṣṭistato manaḥ
yato manaḥstato bhāvo
yato bhāvastato rasaḥ.
Where the hand is, the eyes follow. Where the eyes are, the mind goes. Where the mind goes, feeling arises. Where feeling is, rasa is born.

My daughter walked into Nadanam at six, shy and uncertain. She walked off her arangetram stage, ten years later, knowing exactly who she was. That is what Deepali ji teaches.
There is rigour here, and there is great love. Both, equally. I have learned classical dance from many teachers; only one has taught me how to listen to the music with my body.
Nadanam holds the lineage with care. Every adavu is taught the way my own guru would have taught it. As a parent who is also a dancer, that means everything.
